At least that is what one teacher in Texas is claiming and who is actually getting her day in court claiming that fingerprinting her as a requirement for employment is a violation of her religious rights.

And if background checks were sufficient, then there would be no requirement for fingerprinting. Not having a crime on your record does not mean you didn't commit the crime, it just means you haven't gotten caught yet.

Someone should tell her that fingerprints are not just on the right hand (as in the quoted section) but on BOTH.

And you have fingerprints even if you don't give them up.

2many, I don't know that the school district agrees so much is trying to avoid being the target of the lawsuit. I mean, they said they understand ...but it sounds like covering, to me. They'd get in trouble if they said her beliefs weren't worthy of consideration.

Why the religious angle ? More logically, I would go for the privacy angle. WHY should you give away your fingerprints, especially for such a mundane and low security risk job as a teacher ?
