Hacking Democracy Posted: 3 hours ago by
Tdiggity's link I have watched this special and have not been able to get it out of my head, with upcoming elections at hand. It is being aired again, on HBO this month and next month. I feel it is a must watch for every citizen who casts a vote, because I do not feel our votes are being counted honestly. Is American democracy safe in the age of computers? This cautionary film looks at the very real risk of hackers altering vote counts in public elections--and exposes the vulnerability of the comput...

The "Gloat about your animals" Thread Posted: 3 days ago by
Did your new rescue dog finally take food from your hand? Did your cat curl up in your lap in an incredibly special way that just made you melt? Do you have a tendency to go on and on about your animals, knowing that no one really cares as much as you do? Well, now there's a thread just for you! This is a hybrid of Completely Shameless and The "It doesn't need a thread of it's own" Thread . I have a feeling the majority of the comments here are going to be from me and TraumaMamma. The "One-Upper" Posted: 3 days ago by
Inspired by Jerry. Not directly, but still... It's simple, read the last statement, then top it a little. Don't go from "I ate a bug" to "I single-handedly destroyed the Nazi regime." If it becomes "untoppable" you win. And Jerry520 will show up at your door to hug you. I shall begin... I cured AIDS. Kidding. I ate a grasshopper's legs when I was a kid....

Be on the look out for spammers Posted: 6 months ago by
The following is a list of sites that are KNOWN SPAMMERS. You will often see a new member join up and start posting these, they create new accounts because their old ones have been deleted for spamming. There is no need to warn them, they already know. As a general rule of thumb, if you don't know the poster and they post to one of these sites, just downvote it. freeinternetmarketing.com joyofcamping.com cross-tab.com acnielson.com funnytogo.com browsei.com nubricks.com news.u-trade.org Infoniacs.com wome...

The "It doesn't need a thread of it's own" Thread Posted: 6 months ago by
This thread is for those little things that you want to mention to your fellow Plimates but you don't think are worthy of their own thread. If we were all hanging out in person, it'd be fine to say, but in the forum, it doesn't really need it's own thread. Does that make sense?...

The Political Spectrum: where are you? Posted: 48 minutes ago by
Based on debates and discussions here, it seems there are Plimates from every shade of the political spectrum. Where would you place yourself? How do you feel about government control over institutions such as medicine, education, the military and welfare? How do you feel about taxes? With which (if any) political party do you identify?...

Write Good Things Posted: 9 months ago by
You know what I'm talking about? The teacher writes the names of all the students on pieces of paper and then passes the papers around. Everyone writes something positive about the person and when it's all done, the teacher gives the papers to the students. I've had three teachers do this throughout my school career and I still have all three papers and I still read them every once in a while. I think it would be fun to do this on Plime. Here's how it's gonna work: Just like in the Anonymous Confessio...

Inspired by this post. Record yourself saying the following paragraph and then post it here. We've got Plimates from all over the place, so this should be interesting. ---------- Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wedn...

Hiking.... on the prairies?! Posted: 16 hours ago by
I was going crazy in the office and in the city all week, and I knew I just needed to get out on my own somewhere. I left early yesterday morning for Grasslands National Park in southern Saskatchewan for a short backpacking adventure. The Park encourages "primitave tent camping at random locations," which means I packed up my pack and wandered out into the great beyond and set up my tent in the middle of nowhere. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg12/prairie_chinook/Picture061.jp...

Alphabetically By Category Posted: 3 weeks ago by
This is yet another plime forum game. It's the "long car ride" ABC game we all know and love. A category is named and then we have to name A-Z. So if the category is "vehicles" the first post could be "Avalanche" the next post would be a vehicle that starts with a B (such as Bicycle), and so on and so forth until we reach the end of the alphabet. Whoever does 'Z' is also responsible for picking the next category. If some idiot posted a 'Z' answer but failed to start a new c...

Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 9 months later 9 months and a day You have all decided to find some caves to live in instead. The risk is just too big, especially now that it seems like the faen are leading the thunder lizards here. So you pack up as much meat from the fallen beast in town, dry it in the sun, and salt it with sea water and try to think of a way to make peace with the Caveople. Several days later, a Treeople comes by and lets you know that Marz was found safe in the wood...

The "Let It Out" Thread Posted: 8 months ago by
This is a thread dedicated to getting things off of your chest that have been bothering you. I find that venting is a great way to get relief, and you often feel better afterwards, at least to some degree. So let it out! Edit: I made an assumption without knowing all the facts. I apologize to those I led to believe otherwise....
