Foster Homes for Pets of Deployed Military Posted: 2 weeks ago by meggysue
The military call-up in Desert Storm resulted in what's being called an "animal disaster". As a result, two organizations arose to support our downrange military by providing foster care homes for their pets. Is there room in your home for one more? Even if we don't support the war(s), we can still support the troops.

Feds Bail out AIG; now we own it Posted: 2 weeks ago by meggysue
To keep the largest insurer in the world from going under, the US government decided to bail it out on the taxpayers' $85 billion, which we don't even have to spend. It boggles the mind.
EDIT: The morning after, another article discusses AIG's diversity and why it's still profitable.

Clann an Drumma Posted: 2 weeks ago by meggysue
I saw this band at a Gathering of the Clan in Glasgow, Kentucky a few years ago. They brought out the beast in all of us! Here is one of their videos for your primal enjoyment. One longhaired, shirtless young band member had all the married ladies swooning. He's no longer with the band, unfortunately.

The OJ and company kidnapping/armed robbery trial started today. Simpson flexed his aging muscles allegedly trying to retrieve family heirloom sports memorabilia. If convicted, he might spend the rest of his life in prison, where he'll probably be quite popular. Potential jurors have been warned not to re-try his 1995 murder trial.

Urchin unmasked Posted: 4 weeks ago by meggysue
Sea urchins have a lot going against them. They’re spiny, they sting, and they're noisy. Once harvested, they’re potentially poisonous. They’re also slimy and taste like mucus. What’s not to love?
They're also beautiful. They teach us about how we develop from a fertilized egg to a fully developed human being. So much, in fact, that their entire genomic sequence has been decoded. This cool Science interactive poster explains it all.
