This is not a "very nice post" - this is horrifying news -thus this is probably a post by a spammer trying to get their karma above a big fat zero.

But you upvoted this brilliant piece of insightful wit. Why?

Sorry, I find this news f**king shocking and very, very sad.. Very nice post.. MY ASS

You don't know the reason why this person commented. I think we should give members a moment's thought before downvoting them into oblivion.

Sorry I was in a spin, but still this is word for word what the spammers have been typing on Plime for months now to try to make it harder to vote off their spams. I apologize if this was a real human, but I really doubt it -and there was 2man, suebe and hf expressing genuine sentiment with ZERO votes and all the votes going to that post was just wrong in the context of such a tragedy.

Its not about the voting.. its about rewarding phoniness in the presence of real humans trying to share their feelings that sent me flying. I shouldn't have said anything - its just a website, everyone can vote how they please. It just hurt me to see it is all.

Good thing the suspect is still alive. Now they can kill him nice and proper. I suppose too they will release any statements he makes to the media so we can all look forward to being drenched in his insanity as it plays through all the news outlets for days on end.

Hats off to you psycho psychiatrist soldier man for making this f**ked up world just a little bit more f**ked up.

I doubt they'll kill him. Stint in a high security military psych hospital? No doubt. Court martial? Very likely. Dishonorable discharge? Probably. In the military community, there are worse things than death, especially for a career man or woman.

The thing I wonder about is, with his knowledge of what it takes to fake illness, whether HIS psychiatrist will be able to discern whether and/or when illness resolves and self-preservation takes over.

Either way, this man has a pretty miserable life ahead of him. Of course, those who died have no life at all because he took theirs away, and God only knows how the survivors will fare.

Let justice be served.

The more I read about this, the more it sounds profoundly like the Columbine situation. A closed group (high school/military base), a perception of bullying (whether real or imagined), making comments in praise of death (Columbine journals/guys suicide bomb web posts) and a feeling of no escape (from high school life/military service).

It's tragic that some people feel there is no recourse than to hurt other people.

I just figured there would be a death penalty involved somehow in the serving of this particular justice. As you said his training would make any malingering difficult to detect. We will see.

I also doubt the death penalty.

At the military installation I work at, a few years ago a COL killed his wife on post after she caught him looking at porn. She went out for an evening jog, disappeared.

Her body was found in the creek that runs through post.

As far as I know, he got life at Leavenworth. Left 2 kids parentless.

I've heard that Leavenworth is one of the really tough places to serve time.

Good.

He'll most likely get life in prison, in Leavenworth probably, dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all benefits, etc.

It's actually still possible in the military to get sentenced to hard labor...

However, it is very unlikely he will be executed.

There hasn't been an execution of a serviceman in over 50 years...It has to be authorized by the President...And no one wants that on their record.

Maybe this will be the exception however...I think perhaps it should be. Send a strong message to others who might betray the public trust...and the trust of their brothers in arms...

This was hideous to hear about, I've been working a lot lately so I heard this in my sleep and thought it was a nightmare. Still, although what he did was unforgivable, and I do wonder what he could have been thinking. Especially as he had dealt with the discrimination against Muslims after 9/11, and knowing as a counselor that the psychology of the situation must produce deeper discrimination, my disbelief at this situation just grows and grows.
