«Subobisis : Just saw this movie, it was terrible. A horrific, frightening, and sometimes annoying rumpus on a psychological roller coaster. Sure, it had its funny and happy moments, but the movie ultimately ends on a depressing note. The movie echoes broken homes and strained friendships in such a manner that I would expect many to leave the theatre thoroughly saddened.
F that! Doesn't sound like anything I would want to go see...have r/l for that.
You know, I've never read the poem/book/knew anything about this until I started seeing the previews and posters all over the place, and to tell the truth, I'm creeped out by those monster things! The original illustrations spook me too...something about those faces...and the eyes! o_O Am I missing out on something great? I'm also kind of impressionable when it comes to movies, if it ends all depressing like, it will bum me out. But I do like Karen O, maybe I'll just the soundtrack? It seems good... :)

It's a beautiful movie, and it's NOT depressing or about leaving your friends behind. It's about family, and being a kid and about fear and life being scary but going on with living and being happy anyway.
I completely enjoyed WTWTA, I agree that I expected it to end on a different note just given the nature of Hollywood. It captures the emotional rollercoaster of childhood and the strains of growing up very well.
Id love to hear how some peoples children reacted?

I thought it was about being recruited by the gay army.
I remember liking the book a lot but cannot remember the story at all. Glad to hear mostly positive reviews in here.
I love this book. Had it read to me as a child and have read it too all three of my sons and will read to the new baby (not sure if its a boy or girl yet!)
The trailer looks amazing but can you take children or is it to scary? My kids are 10, 7 and 2.5 (I won't be take the little one)?
