A few tips from Poop:

Don't be afraid to express yourself. Arguments are encouraged so long as you remain civil.

Comment often. Comments are a good way to gain karma, so long as you're posting comments of at least some merrit. Jokes will likely get upvoted IF they make someone laugh (so don't expect all your one-liners to get up-votes). This is also useful if you have a "did I just submit a duplicate" paranoia. Even if your post gets deleted, your comments should cover your butt with a few up-votes.

Don't be offended if someones views contradict your own. As with anything, no one is going to agree with you 100% of the time, and some people will agree with you 0% of the time. Don't get mad. That's how life is. It's what makes us different and makes the world an interesting place to live.

Don't drop in just to post a link to your blog. This is frowned upon and will undoubtedly result in lost karma points (negative votes). There is a thread in the forums here for you to link us to your blog. If somone is interested, they will read it.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. Seriously. Even if I don't like you (which is probably true), I will gladly help out in any way I can be it clarification of something or advice or whatever. I know that many other plimates feel the same way.
